{"id":212,"date":"2020-11-14T17:00:38","date_gmt":"2020-11-15T01:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.omtiblog.com\/reporterbase101\/?p=212"},"modified":"2026-04-14T10:07:33","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T17:07:33","slug":"notes-finder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.omtiblog.com\/reporterbase101\/modules\/tools\/notes-finder\/","title":{"rendered":"Locate notes made anywhere in RB9"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6>Lesson #99<\/h6>\n<h5>Tools \u2013 Notes Finder function<\/h5>\n<p>With 10 different sets of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.omtiblog.com\/reporterbase101\/concept\/what-is-a-notes-log-in-rb9\/\">Notes Logs<\/a>, it can be difficult to remember exactly where\u00a0a particular note was entered in RB9.\u00a0Use Notes Finder to <strong>search for log notes entered manually by users and automatically by the system.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>With this tool, you can search for notes made in:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Case listings<\/li>\n<li>Contact listings<\/li>\n<li>Firm listings<\/li>\n<li>Firms\u2019 collections histories<\/li>\n<li>Invoice listings<\/li>\n<li>Job listings<\/li>\n<li>Location listings<\/li>\n<li>Resource listings<\/li>\n<li>Tracking listings<\/li>\n<li>Witness listings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Search each Notes Log category for notes by:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Date or date range<\/li>\n<li>All (system generated and entered by staff) or a single person who entered the note(s)<\/li>\n<li>Word or phrase<\/li>\n<li>Notes type \u2014 such as marketing \u2014 or action type for collections \u2014 such as call made. You can search all types, a single type, or several types at once.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can include all notes in your search or exclude cancelled notes from your search.<\/p>\n<h3>View search results<\/h3>\n<p>RB9 displays the notes that meet your search criteria with the most recent notes listed first. You can see at a glance:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Each note\u2019s contents.<\/li>\n<li>Where the note is stored.<\/li>\n<li>Who entered it and when \u2014 or if added by the system automatically, who triggered the entry.<\/li>\n<li>Type of note.<\/li>\n<li>How it was communicated or what action was taken.<\/li>\n<li>If you include cancelled notes, when they were cancelled and by whom.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can sort the notes listed\u00a0by one or more columns in ascending or descending order (but when you exit the function, RB9 will revert back to the default order). Export the list as an <em>Excel<\/em> spreadsheet or\u00a0a CSV (comma-separated values) file to save, print, share, or use in other applications.<\/p>\n<p>Drill down in any note to see more information associated with the note \u2014 such as the contact listing associated with a contact note. From there you can edit\/update the listing, upload\/download repository files, and add more notes to its Notes Log.<\/p>\n<p><em>NOTE: This is an RB9 Standard-only function.
